Overflow- North Point, Barbados

aDonawa-barbados-Overflow.jpg

The waves were really jamming on this day.

My photo buddy got soaked from a huge swell that came out of nowhere as he was setting up.

Fortunately he was able to turn and shield the camera in time.

I visited this site a couple weeks ago. At that time I was taking using a fast shutter speed to try and capture all the detail and kinetic energy in the waves and spray.

For this one I wanted to go for a more dreamy approach and focus on the mini waterfalls coming off the rocks.

Since the water was moving so fast, a 1sec exposure was long enough to create the mood I was looking for.

Tip:

Try different exposure times and see what effect they have on the water when shooting seascapes.

Remember to bring a few extra wipes/clothes because you will need to clean your lens quite often.
